CCDA Celebrating 30 Years of Dressage on the Central Coast
Central Coast Dressage Association (CCDA), affliated with EA & Dressage NSW, was formed in 1980 by a group of dressage enthusiasts, some of who are still members of the club today. 30 years of running dressage events on the Coast is a major achievement and worth celebrating particularly in this day and age of instant gratification.
The club held its first events in the grounds of the Mt Penang Juvenile Detention Centre. The grounds were made available for community activities including Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and dressage competitions by the supportive superintendent of the day.
The RDA still maintains a partnership with the Detention Centre running a facility in the grounds. CCDA also maintains a link to the RDA with the organisation receiving a donation from CCDA each year.
For a number of years now CCDA has hosted competitions at Il Cadore, Somersby, with clinics held at a variety of venues around the Central Coast. The club currently has 120 members ranging in age from 10 to over 80 years old. The age range of the members is testament to the broad appeal of the sport.
For 30 years CCDA has held up to 6 competitions and 5 clinics per year for club members and dressage enthusiasts from the Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Canberra and Sydney.
